Well, yesterday's wind is all gone, but so is the sun. We were able to have breakfast on the porch, but had to pulll our table under cover due to a few sprinkles. As I told our hostess (in French), this was the best breakfast we've had in the 8 weeks we've been traveling!! Fresh squeezed OJ, fresh fruit salad, figs, dates, croissants, cheese, ham, great french toast, yogurt w/ granola (for mom) and chocolate cake and tea to finish!
We decided this was as good a day as any to visit Antibes, and fortunately, it never rained. We found parking by the yacht basin, reputedly the largest in all Europe. Some of the yachts were IMMENSE !! (see photo). Wandered through the old town on a Rick Steve's directed walk. Had lunch then visited the Picasso museum which is in and old mansion where he worked (feverishly) for 4 months in 1946. There were also numerous photos of him during his time on the Cote d'Azur including some at the Madoura in Vallauris where he created much of his pottery. He loved Spanish style bull fights and apparently, many of the towns in the Cote d'Azur had them in the 1950's including Vallauris and Frejus.
Finished our stay in Antibes and drove back to the B&B to spend some time reading on the porch; sun is trying to come out and there's hope for full sun again tomorrow.
Dinner tonight at the Cafe du Coin in old Vallauris. Better meal and nicer experience than last night. Turbot for Tina, tuna "mi cuit" for me. I think we were the only non-locals in the place!
Finished Peter Mayle's "Toujour Provence"
Walked - 4.3 miles
Drove - 26 km
