Retirement Odyssey
We've been in Provence for about 2 weeks now and will be moving to the Cote d'Azur tomorrow. Decided to make a short trip to Lourmarin today, southern most town in the Luberon and now the home of Peter Mayle since he left Menerbe where he wrote "A Year In Provence". (I'm now reading the sequel, "Toujours Provence"). We noted his presence in Lourmarin as manifested by a noticeable number of rich Brits in very expensive cars. The drive to and from was nice except for some stressful 1.5 lane segments.
Picniced at the church in Lourmarin where a little girl on rollerblades ("I'm seven and a half " she told me when I asked) told me not to drink the water out of the fountain by the church. (I was just rinsing out a bottle)
Home in time to spend some time at the pool. The weather was warm and summery again this afternoon. Beautiful sunset wen we got back to the abbey after dinner.
