Retirement Odyssey
Uneventful drive from Clermont- Ferrand to Estrablin. Le Hotel Gabatiere (12 rooms) will be our base for the next three days. It was built in ~1600. The access to our room is up an ancient stone spiral staircase inside a 4 story tower. The rooms are a bit dated and worn (what can you expect after 417 years right??), but there is a nice outdoor pool to enjoy as temperatures will be well into the 90's each day we are here. The hotel is surrounded by a large park. There is a nice dog whose name is Happy (I guess they don't call him 'Heureux')
We will be visiting the numerous Roman sites here over the next three days. We had hoped to do so while in Lyon a few years ago (when it was 102) but ran out of time.
Dinner at Alice's ; that's right ....... Alice's restaurant! And just for good measure, there was a VW camper parked just down the street with the words "flower power" painted on the side.
