Retirement Odyssey

Erin/Ehren/Hugo and Leah/John/Freja are ALL moving to Portland, Oregon in the course of the rest of the year !!! (if all goes according to plan.) What wonderful news for grandparents dying to have frequent close contact with their first two grandchildren!!

As suspected, it began to rain overnight, nothing heavy, but saturating the ground and the skies were leaden. We weren't "due" for another laundry day yet, BUT since I had found a nice laundromat yesterday and the weather was conducive, we made another run to the laundry. Though the skies were gay until 6:00PM, there was no more rain.

That was good news, as it was market day in Vannes. The two largest squares close to the port, just inside the medieval walls, were filled with venders and the customers were shoulder to shoulder. We picked up food for lunch , and I made a tour of the fish market while Tina remained outside. Discovered lott is monkfish, dorade is full of bones unless filleted and moru is a scary looking fish like a cross between a barracuda and a moray eel!!

Enjoyed our picnic lunch. Tina discovered a new favorite treat at the patisserie. It's called an "allumette" I believe (a match) and consists of a bar of dark chocolate about the size of an extra long tootsie roll wrapped in puff pastry. The first one at lunch was so good, we had to go back and buy the 2 remaining ones later in the day.

Walked the town in the late PM when the vendors and most of the customers were gone; very peaceful and relaxing. Had dinner at The Tandem (I chose the lott having seen it "in the flesh" earlier in the day.)

Finished Daniel Silva's "The Confessor"

Walked - 5.7 miles

Drove - zero km
