So we woke up super early and made our way to school to board our bus to Pompeii! When we got there we immediately followed our teachers to a little mom and pop restaurant for lunch and it was incredible. They had a bunch of dishes you could get servings of for very cheap and they were so nice. They then took us to get the best coffee in the town and we were very thankful. Then we went into the ancient city of Pompeii to see the ruins. I'm assuming everyone knows how this town was destroyed, but just incase you don't, Mt. Vesuvius erupted and destroyed this little town. Then when people were building an aqueduct to Naples they discovered it. The buildings and houses are still intact but you can tell that they have been destroyed from their original looks. It was still so beautiful though. The mountains all around are gorgeous. They have only excavated just under half of what they believe to be the entire city. We learned all about their customs - they were very open about their sexuality and our tour guide loved to tell us those stories. After we finished touring around the city for a few hours then we boarded the bus again and they took us to a little city outside of Naples where we are going to stay all weekend. The view is absolutely breathtaking. I cried at the site and smell of salt water again.... All of the people in our program are on one side of the hotel and all of our balconies connect so it is like one giant sleepover between all 50 of us here. Also at the end of our hallway there's a giant balcony with the most amazing view in the whole hotel. So after getting settled and taking a thousand pictures of the view we set out to find the famous pizza place here called Pizza University. They serve their pizza in meters to split so we got a meter of pizza made up of four flavors. It was incredible. We then went to a frozen yogurt place down the street and got crepes with yogurt on them! It was so good! Then we headed back to the hotel to stare at our view a little more before heading off to bed!
