Semester in Europe!

So this morning when we woke up to a door that was broken, I decided to go early to school to talk to the teachers and make sure this situation was handled before the day got started. So Justine and I walked to school and got there around 9am, just in time for her to start class. While I waited for her I talked to the teachers and played around on Pinterest looking for fun things to do for our first free weekend in Rome! When she finished class, we went to get coffee before heading to a store named Tiger where I got a water bottle to use for the rest of the semester because there are natural water fountains all around the city from the Aqueducts! After this, we walked over to the grocery store near school to see the differences between it and the one by our house! Turns out that this one had a lot more options, but was more expensive. After our grocery store exploration, we found a little pizza place where you get it by the slice right next to our school! It was so good and we are planning to go back definitely more times this semester. After lunch, it was time for my classes to start! I had Italian Society first where I learned that currently there is no government system in the city of Rome. The police forces, along with the Mafia, overthrew the state government and are currently in charge... little bit terrifying if you ask me. I also learned that 97% of Roman citizens believe that the government is corrupt. So thats good. But, there are so many American citizens here that we honesty have nothing to worry about. I think this class is going to be very interesting and will give me a lot of insight into the way other countries run their government systems. After this class, I had my Italian class. I am in Italian 2 which is what I would have been taking back in Auburn, but I am currently so bored. We are reviewing a lot of 1 and after talking to Alexa who is in 3 I might see about moving up after this week! We shall see!! Lastly, I had art and culture. This is the class that all my friends are in!! We basically are going to a different museum, church, historical site, etc in every single class period! I am so excited for all the opportunities that our teacher is presenting us with! After class, we attended another Welcome Cocktail that Richmond set up for us and our program leaders! It was at an American restaurant/bar called The Perfect Bun. We had nachos, cheese burgers, and wings and it reminded me so much of home!! After this, Justine and I walked home and entered all of our assignments from our syllabus into our calendars and got ready for our next day of school!
