Europe

After breakfast we headed to the station to catch the train into Connolly Station.
We walked to the spire, monument to light & then towards the river to cross the Ha’penny pedestrian bridge, the 1st pedestrian bridge built in Dublin that used to cost half a penny to cross. We then walked to Temple Bar a famous Irish pub, before heading to Christ Church Cathedral, with part of the Cathedral being a bridge across the road.
We made our way to the Guinness Storehouse, it’s a self guided tour across six floors telling the story of how Guinness is made. The layout resembles a pint of Guinness, with the top floor being floor to ceiling windows offering great views of the city. We ate in the dining hall, Irish Stew made with Guinness & served with mashed potato & we shared a Guinness Chocolate Mousse, both of which were really nice. I had a pint of Guinness with my lunch, included in the tour price & drank 1/2 of it. Richard gave his voucher away as he isn’t drinking at the moment. We both enjoyed the tour, it was very well laid out & we especially enjoyed the old film footage & photos.
We then headed to St Stephens green, a beautiful park with a lake in the middle. There were information boards about the Easter rising of 1916 & we saw the bullet holes still visible in the facade of the College of Surgeons building, before walking along Grafton Street, not sure if we were in the wrong park but I was expecting more independent shops & not the “Nationals” that we saw.
I wasn’t feeling well so we headed back to the station.

We both had problems with the bed, I’d had a really sore shoulder for a few days & had a sore neck which led to a migraine. Richards back has been sore for a while & was worse today. Once home I took some tablets & went to bed for a few hours. I did feel better when I woke. We had some left over pasta to eat & both watched something on Netflix before heading to bed.
