Europe

We’d slept ok although woke before our alarm, we had a drink & Richard tried the shower but couldn’t get any hot water so he gave up & I just had a wash. We’d only brought one cell in so no zippy today. We were in the car heading to the port by 6.45am, the port was a 15 min drive & Check-in closed at 7.35am. The traffic was quite heavy in places. But we arrived & joined the queue & made it through Check-in on time. It seemed to take a long time to load us, we eventually drove onto the ferry & parked & headed up to the same spot at the front, near the bar, as we’d been on the way over. The ferry was 15 mins late leaving. The ferry was full, lots of people & children everywhere. I purchased two coffees & two muffins, both of which weren’t bad, luckily before the big queues formed. The brasserie queue was really long & remained that way for about the 1 st hour of the trip.
Whilst Richard was buying a paper the lady sitting next to us was chatting to me, she’d been booked on the 7.30am swift as a foot passenger but had missed Check-in by 2 mins, luckily they’d put her on this ferry. She was going to visit her husband & son who were working in Yorkshire. It was a beautiful morning, the sea was calm & Ireland looked lovely as we left Dublin port & followed the coast line for a while. Even though we’d departed late we docked on time, 11.35am. We were a long time being off loaded, I guess they do this in a certain order to maintain ballast. Eventually they closed a gate in front of us & then lowered the front 1/2 down, I didn’t realise we’d been parked on a ramp, luckily I’d put the handbrake on!!
We drove off the ferry & eventually cleared the traffic.

It is a really beautiful drive along the north Welsh coast. We stopped for lunch at Llandudno Junction & arrived back in Northwich about 3.30pm. We had a cup of tea & a rest & walked up to Sainsbury local to purchase dinner, salmon, salad & baby potatoes. Lovely.
