Europe

I discovered that the statues were part of the Eldorado festival “bringing a flavour of Mexico” & that today there was a parade, various live sites, a firework display & a fun fare.
I found a coffee shop further up the road, a nice latte although they only do takeaway. We then headed out to find the supermarket as Richard wanted to listen to the football, we found a Monoprix & purchased for today & tomorrow.
The weather wasn’t very pleasant, cold, top of 10c but with a cold wind meaning it felt like 6c, there was also squally rain all day. After unpacking the shopping I went out with my camera to wander around & take photos, it was sunny when I left & I came home once it started raining again.
The Eagles beat Gold Coast & after we’d had lunch & a rest we headed out to the Citadelle, although we knew we wouldn’t be able to go in as it’s still a military base. This is the area for the firework display tonight so a number of the paths were closed off, we walked around by the canal & then followed a path closer to the Citadelle walls but again came to a fence. I did manage to find Richard a monkey (in the zoo). We headed back across the pedestrian bridge & past Jardin Vauban & then it started to rain again, luckily we were not too far from our apartment.
The parade was due to pass the end of our street & started at 7.30pm, although the website had a parade postponed message from about 5.30pm but no further information. I went out at 7.40pm & watched some of the entertainment, lots of people but no parade by 8.30pm & I was cold.
