Europe

We awoke to another sunny day, after zippy, we packed the car & headed off to Salthill, a suburb of Galway. We found a free car park by the promenade & also a cafe for a coffee & toilet, we have sometimes struggled to find public toilets, the one on the promenade being out of order.
After a coffee we set off for a walk along the 2km promenade, although sunny it was quite windy. We visited a memorial to those who perished during the potato famine & decided to walk along the jetty to the lighthouse. Once we got to the end the gate was closed & we found out it was a water treatment works on the end of the jetty & that the lighthouse is only open by appointment. It was a lovely walk & nice view across Galway Bay. We walked back to the car, filled up with petrol & purchased some lunch. We then set off for Dublin.
As our ferry was leaving at 8.05am the following morning we’d booked accommodation near to the port at Dublin City University, All Hallows Campus. We’d put the address into the sat nav which had taken us to a row of terraced houses. I re-checked the confirmation email & it contained a view our location on map link, so I clicked this & used google maps on my phone to guide us. It took us to DCU English Language School, the actual locator showing as the park. We parked & had a wander around, checked a university map but couldn’t see any residences, by this stage it was after 5pm. This time I put All Hallows into google maps & we followed the directions back to very near the terraced houses, luckily we saw a sign & google maps delivered us to the correct place. We easily found reception & they had our booking!!
I had thought for the 1st time on our trip we might not have been able to find our booked accommodation!
The room was small but fine, double bed, desk, small cabinet, wardrobe & an ensuite set up for disabled guests. The grounds were lovely & after a rest we set off to walk to the Tesco express to get something for the morning as breakfast didn’t start until 8am & it was too late to book a breakfast pack to take with us. We then found a pub, our 1 st visit to a pub since arriving in Ireland as Richard hadn’t been drinking. We had fish & chips which were ok, a few drinks & then headed back to our accommodation.
