After a WhatsApp call with Mum we wondered up to the train station, we had purchased train tickets to Barcelona & read that they needed to be printed & couldn’t be shown on phones etc due to barcode size, it was about a 1/2 hour walk without luggage so definitely a taxi on Saturday. The man in the ticket office said as the tickets were PDF they were fine. At least it was a nice walk south of the river!!
We called in for a coffee, Richard joining me today, & then walked to the Real Casino de Murcia which is a gentleman’s private club. We did go inside as it was on our tourist map & had an information board outside but the concierge moved to an area that had a sign, private so I took a photo & we looked through some windows. The club looks very opulent. I’ve since read that you can book tours. We then wondered up to the Teatro Romea, a lovely old theatre, it wasn’t open & the production this week is an opera, so I’ll have to make do with looking at the outside. We then wondered back to a market that our host had told us about but it was like the timeout in Lisbon, he’d described it as you could buy fish & then they’d cook it for you. We wondered around the streets near the market just in case we’d gone into the wrong building, but we hadn’t, we decided to head home for lunch & on the way Richard noticed a market looking building. A number of stalls either had closed or hadn’t opened today & a number were closing up but we did purchase some sausages & plan to head back tomorrow, earlier in the day. After lunch & a rest we headed out for a walk & for potatoes & peas to go with the sausages.
We headed past the bus station & found a larger supermarket similar to the one in Lisbon & Granada, selling fresh fish, meat as well as a larger selection of other items, it’s looking good for the next few days. I’ve also researched a couple of Tapas restaurants.
I’m really loving my map of Murcia, no doubt it will look as busy as the Granada map by the end of the week!!!
The sausages were really good, a little spicy, we think they were pork. When Richard was buying them the man pointed to the Argentinian flag, he had another darker coloured sausage which he said was the Murcia sausage & he confirmed it was quite spicy.
We then watched another episode of black earth rising.
