Europe

It was overcast as we set off to drive the Dingle Peninsula drive a 47km loop starting & finishing in Dingle, driven in a clockwise direction. I’d chosen a few stops to make, the 1 st being Minard castle ruins but I could see the ruins in the distance but we didn’t see any signs. Dash. Next stop was the Dingle pier area with lovely views across the harbour. It was still overcast but at least it wasn’t raining. We then stopped at the Beehive Huts, amazing, built out of stone & inhabited by farmers to 1200 AD. Cleverly built by erecting a circle with each layer being laid closer to the centre until only a small hole was left which was closed with a capstone. Further along a crucifix at Slea Head & Dunmore Head which is the western most point of Europe & used in various Star Wars movies, we had a walk up the rocks which have a good view of the islands.
We headed back to Dingle & actually missed a sign & drove through twice before heading back home across the Connor Pass, the highest pass in Ireland & it certainly was high with lovely views.
We stopped at Dunnes to shop, filled tortellini with a tomato & mushroom sauce, the pasta was really nice. When we got back we met our host who had been camping in the ring of Kerry.
