Europe

We had breakfast & finished our packing. I headed out for a coffee & to purchase a few snacks for the train. We walked up & caught the tram, ticket machines at all stops very convenient, which gives you a cardboard ticket which you validate on the tram (there are only two lines).
We found our way into the station & waited for our trains platform to be displayed. Our tickets were on my phone, so I let Richard through 1st & then I went through. We had no reserved seat for the trip to Marseille but managed to get our luggage in the rack & find forward facing seats. The train was packed, people sitting on the stairs & luggage everywhere, blocking the aisles & initially on seats, but people were rightly asking for it to be moved. A lovely journey mostly along the sea, past lots of pebble & some sandy beaches.
We were late arriving into Marseille but had time to get a baguette for lunch. My phones torch must have been on in my bag as the battery was down to 10% & the phone was so hot. I did the same with the tickets but struggled to get through myself as the phone kept freezing & I couldn’t enlarge the barcode, eventually it worked. I did move out of the way but did think I was going to fall down the gap between platform & train a couple of times.
I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the smoking, the lady that got off the train in front of me stopped to light up immediately, causing me to almost fall down the train gap & the person behind to bump into me, they stand in open doors & i’ve actually seen them hide their cigarette in their hand & go into shops!!

I’ve also seen a number of men weeing in public, I believe this is legal in France but it still shocks me everytime I see it.
We found our seats upstairs on the train & placed our luggage on the rack, we were forward facing with a table. We had our baguette & I charged my phone on Richards laptop, it was an older train & although it had wifi there were no USB or powerpoints.
There were quite a few dogs on the train, one whined for a while, obviously wasn’t enjoying it. We arrived in Lyon & made our way out of the station but not the side we wanted so we walked back through the station & located our apartment. We’d been sent instructions & a video of how to get in, I needed to click a link in the email to get the front door open, hence needing to charge my phone. Luckily the front door was open & I caught the lift up with the two bags (after I’d wrestled with the front bag as the flange wouldn’t close & then the lights went out). We managed to get the key safe open & entered the apartment. We headed out to Carefore for dinner & milk / yoghurt for breakfast. Once back at the apartment I unpacked.
We had dinner at 7.45 pm, sausages, peas & pooky chips, so Richard was happy. We watched BBC world news for a while & then both watched programs on Netflix.
