Europe

We were just heading out when Richard said Lynne was calling on my mobile, Lynne was away in Barcelona & off to the Grand Prix today. Mum had had an aneurysm & was in hospital, at that stage Lynne didn’t know much more. Mum was supposed to go up to Lynne’s yesterday, I had messaged her during the evening to see if she’d had a good journey & initially had a message saying she was still at messy church & then another at my 9.50pm to say she wasn’t driving tonight & had arranged for Adam to do the cats & hens. I just thought she was being sensible not driving & not that she was in hospital.
I messaged Mum & we decided to head out. I’d located a nice sounding coffee shop about a 30 min walk, we walked along the Amstel & then along one of the canals. The coffee shop was packed & had a wait of 45 mins, luckily they did takeaways & the coffee was really nice. We then headed to the tourist information, we didn’t actually find a tourist information centre, we ended up at the station & purchased tickets for the hop on hop off boat & bus combo. During this time I’d had messages from Mum who said she was ok but sleepy, they were doing further tests tomorrow & she’d be home on Wednesday, Lynne also messaged to say she still couldn’t get through to the hospital but Sam was going to visit her tonight, she then texted later to say she’d got through to the hospital & that Mum was doing ok, they will monitor today & complete an invasive CT scan to investigate further. We walked past a market selling tulips & tulip bulbs, so many stalls, amazing. We also passed the Delft pottery shop.

We enjoyed our boat tour which lasted 1 & 1/4 hours & finished back at the station, we grabbed sandwiches at the station & decided to catch the hop on hop off bus as it was 3pm.
By this time my phone battery had run out & I had been unsuccessful in finding a map with our street on it. One of the bus stops was near the Amstel & we knew we’d gone to Amstel station yesterday so guessed they’d be close. We walked from the bus stop to the Amstel canal & then turned left. Yay, as we got further along we recognised a few of the restaurants as we’d walked past them this morning. We turned down a street as we wanted to go to the supermarket on the way home & were close to the supermarket. We shopped & arrived home at about 5.30pm, I’d put some washing on before going out this morning so hung that out. I messaged Mum & received a photo of her in her hospital bed looking not too bad. Lynne & I exchanged messages & will wait for more information after Sams visit & also the tests tomorrow about whether we go home earlier (Lynne is flying Tuesday afternoon & I’m due into Newcastle at 9.15am on Wednesday). We had tortellini for dinner & Richard made a tomato sauce with courgette & Swiss brown mushrooms, it was delicious.
