2017 Alaska adventure - Anchorage, Alaska to Talkeetna, Alaska

We decided to cut short our visit to Anchorage and travel to Talkeetna which is a small town on the way to Denali. Talkeetna is very charming and one of the key stops for the land tours offered by cruise ships.

The day was dry and fairly clear. On our way to Talkeetna we were able to see the top of Denali. It is rare to be able to see the top since it is usually in the clouds. So we were very excited to be able to get a few pictures.

Upon arriving in Talkeetna we decided to take a flightseeing trip to Denali and the surrounding mountains. What an adventure it was. By the time we were in the air, Denali was socked in by clouds but the trip was phenomenal just the same. We were in a VERY small plane that seats 6 very snugly. We only had 3 and the pilot so it was a little roomier than it could have been. We were only in the air for 1 hour but we had a great time. The mountains were so beautiful. We all agreed that we would love to go up again. Maybe when we get into Denali.

Talkeetna was a very pleasant unplanned excursion. Tomorrow we head to Denali.
