2017 Alaska adventure - Pennsylvania to Michigan

PA through Michigan, 07.07.2017

We left New Castle, Pennsylvania for Linwood, Michigan today. Arrived in Linwood around 5:00 PM and had a very uneventful trip. Clear skies for most of the way. We met with some friends of the Halls. Bruce, Steve, and Don enjoyed 2 days of fishing on Saginaw Bay catching walleye. They didn't have the greatest of luck - water was rough but they did manage to bring back 1 bag of fish each.

Marianna, Dorothy, and I spent time taking a few good walks and most of Sunday visiting Frankenmuth, MI. Frankenmuth was settled in the 1700s by German Puritans. The town has kept its German heritage in both architecture, food, and beer. We also visited Bronner's which is a huge Christmas store. You have probably seen them advertised in magazines. Bronners sits on 27 acres which contains the Christmas store as well as beautiful larger than life nativity scenes and other Christmas scenes throughout the property.
The owner of Bronners created a replica of the Oberndorb/Salzburg, Austria chapel which marks the site where "Silent Night" was first sung on Christmas Eve in 1818. All in all we had an enjoyable time with new friends.

Monday we head for St Ignace, MI.
