2017 Alaska adventure - Iskut, British Columbia to Hyder, Alaska

Hyder, Alaska, 09.06.2017

We travelled from Iskut to Hyder, Alaska. Hyder is known for bear watching along the Bear Creek and Fish Creek. The bears are so frequent in the area that the US Forest Service has built a wooden walkway with rails for visitors to walk along, watch the bears in the stream hunting for salmon, or in the lagoon swimming, and be protected. We overheard one man saying that he was there in 1999 and people just stood on the grass with the bears. Probably not the safest way to see bears. We did see a couple of bears come out of the woods to catch salmon and also saw a bald eagle but it was so foggy that the pictures are not great. But we do have the memories.
