2017 Alaska adventure - Michigan to Wisconsin

West Salem, Wisconsin, 07.12.2017

On Wednesday, 7/12/17, we left St Ingace, MI to head towards South Dakota. This was a very long day of 10 hours of driving. We finally stopped in West Salem, Wisconsin which is close to the border with Minnesota. No sightseeing today. We had heavy rains in the morning but by around 11 the rain stopped. Very overcast all day. Gotta say that the pavement on Wisconsin highways is horrible. For the most part the highways are made of concrete with rivulets. It was like driving on a washboard for many hours. Every once in a while the road changed to pavement which made the drive more enjoyable. We pulled into the Veteran’s Memorial County Park in West Salem, WI around 5:30 PM. It is a very pretty campground on the LaCrosse River.
Tomorrow we leave for Sioux Falls, South Dakota
