2017 Alaska adventure - Seward Day 1

Seward, Alaska, 08.09.2017

Seward is situated on Resurrection Bay on the east coast of the Kenai Peninsula and is considered the gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park. It is a lovely town known for the numerous murals painted on the sides of buildings throughout the town. It also is home to the Alaska Sealife Center. The Center is an aquarium and marine wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center.

On our first day in Seward, the weather was chilly and rainy. We had already purchased tickets for a charter boat ride through Kenai Fjords National Park to view glaciers. The seas were very rough resulting in a huge number of passengers getting seasick. Thankfully our group was fine. We did view one glacier and saw a small calving. On the way to the second glacier, the boat started having mechanical problems so we had to return to port immediately. We were not that disappointed since visibility was very poor. We did get to see some very cool rock structures and seals.
