2017 Alaska adventure - Watson Lake, Yukon to Whitehorse Yukon

Whitehorse, 08.02.2017

We left Watson Lake today heading north to Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. Lots of mountains again along the way. Whitehorse is the capital of the Yukon Territory and has a population of about 20,000. We did get to see a mother bear and her cub. When we came across them, they had just been in a stream and were heading up a slight hill. They were very cute to see.

The claim to fame for the village of Tesla is the Nisultin Bay Bridge which is the second longest water span on the Alaska Highway at 1,917 feet.

Other than the bear siting, it was an uneventful trip. After pulling into our campground in Whitehorse, we headed into town just to look around and grab a bite to eat. We all noticed that the days are much longer. Last night it was after 11:00 PM and still twilight.

Tomorrow we will stay in Whitehorse. Mainly to get some errands done – like laundry and just have a down day. Friday we start travelling again. We might get to Alaska.
