2017 Alaska adventure - Seward, Alaska to Homer, Alaska

Homer, Alaska, 08.11.2017

We left Seward under dry but overcast skies. Homer is on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula. The road to Homer follows the Cook Inlet. It was an easy trip with very good roads. We passed a lot of very unique places along the way. Some looked as if they were barely standing.

Our campground in Homer is directly across from Bishops Beach in Kachemak Bay. The sand is very dark, not quite black. Instead of shells the beach is strewn with flat, smooth river rocks. We walked the beach this evening and there were several groups sitting around campfires along the beach.

We are also next to a bird sanctuary. This evening there were 2 Lesser Sandhill Cranes walking through the campground. Tomorrow we plan to snoop around Homer and depending on the weather, take some hikes.
