2017 Alaska adventure - Denali, Alaska to Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks, Alaska, 08.27.2017

The next stop on our trip was Fairbanks. Fairbanks is basically as far north that you can go in Alaska on paved roads. I was a little under the weather while in Fairbanks so we didn’t get to do a lot of sightseeing. We did visit the museum at the Fairbanks University and travelled out of town to visit the North Pole. We had to visit the North Pole so that we could put in a good word with Santa regarding our Grandchildren!

We have noticed that fall has arrived in Alaska. They don’t have the oaks and elms that we have on the east coast that provide the oranges and reds in the fall but the leaves of the birch trees turn a vibrant yellow. The fireweed plants have also turned feathery at the top of the plants. The saying is that when the fireweed plants change, there is 6 weeks left before winter sets in. Time to leave Alaska
