2017 Alaska adventure - Caldwell, Idaho to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho

Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, 09.14.2017

We passed a lot of windmill farms on our route today. The electricity generated is being sold to the power companies. Since there is very little to block the winds, the windmills are ideally situated for this part of the country. Again we are in the high desert countryside.

While in Lava Hot Springs we of course decided to visit the springs. Four pools have been created with varying water temperatures in each. The hottest was 115 degrees and the ‘coolest’ was 103 degrees. It is amazing that the water is heated to these temperatures naturally. The springs are mineral springs but not sulphuric so there aren’t any Sulphur smells. Our visit to the pools was very enjoyable but you can’t stay in them very long.
