2017 Alaska adventure - Wyoming to Montana

Garrison, Montana, 07.17.2017

Monday, 7/17 we left Wyoming for Montana. We had a good drive stopping off in Bozeman for a little bit. The land went from large grass covered hills sparcely populated with trees to now including outcroppings of rock. Unfortunately we did come across an accident that occurred only a minute or so before we arrived. People were still running to the scene to help. These are wide open areas with little to hold back the winds. Apparently the vehicle rolled from the opposite lanes across the median and ended on its side in our lanes. Thankfully no other vehicles in our lanes were involved. There are lots of rvs on these roads and we are constantly fighting the winds and backdrafts from trucks. We arrived in Garrison, Montana which is northwest of Butte. This is a small campground but very nice. The temperature today was in the 70s so it is much nicer. Tomorrow we head for Columbia Falls, Montana which is outside of Glacier National Park. We all are excited about seeing Glacier.
