After arriving late last night we spent a leisurely morning shopping for breakfast and looking at things to do in the area. Rachel and family decided to stay around the resort as the girls wanted to watch the family movie and go swimming. I went with Richard for a drive round the area looking for some of the smaller lakes shown on the map. We went up the hillside at the back of where we are staying to Heavenly where we had a good view of Lake Tahoe. We then went to Echo Summit and Echo Lake which is a small lake up in the mountains. It is set quite a way back from the main road and we passed lots of rental cabins to get there. People were out on the lake in boats and kayaks and it looked like a popular spot. We drove back down to Lake Tahoe and followed the road round it until we turned off for Fallen Leaf Lake. This was even further back from the road and the lanes to it were quite narrow. It is a beautiful spot and again very popular as there is a small beach and areas to swim, kayak and water ski. The lake was bigger then Echo Lake but compared to Tahoe it is tiny. There was a small cafe there and a tiny post office that had just closed last year. We came back to Tahoe and had a bbq, played board games and made plans for tomorrow.
