Calgary to San Francisco

I met up with Rachel and family for breakfast and then we set out to see the sights. Our first stop was it’sugar to look at the huge selection of sweets and of course buy a few. Next we went to Musée Mécanique where they had lots of the old style arcade games from the last century. Lola and Evie had great fun trying some out. We then walked along to Pier 39 where there were shops to look in especially the Build a Bear shop where Evie just had to buy an outfit for her teddy! We went to look at the sea lions basking on the rafts in the harbour and then decided to walk to Chinatown. This is the largest Chinatown outside of Asia and it took some time to find the Dragon Gate entrance. There are some lovely buildings with shops selling fruit and veg, gifts, clothing and jewellery alongside the numerous restaurants. We made our way to Union Square where we sat on the steps for a while and then decided to go on one of the historic cable cars. We walked down to the terminal and watched the cars being turned round on an original wooden turntable. There was a long queue but we eventually boarded a car. Lola wanted to stand on the side so Scott and I went to sit next to her while Rachel and Evie went inside. We had quite a long ride going up and down streets before ending up at Fisherman’s Wharf. A short walk the took us to Ghirardelli Square.this used to be the headquarters for the Ghirardelli Chocolate makers but now houses other shops and restaurants as well as the chocolate shop. It was now time to eat and then go to bed after a tiring day.
