Calgary to San Francisco

Today we went to the Dinosaur Provincial Park. It was a long drive but well worth it. After miles of flat country roads we suddenly came to the park which is like a mini canyon and the change in scenery is dramatic. We had lunch and then went for a drive round the park stopping at various points to walk along trails and climb on the rocks. Kian climbed up to the top of some of the high ones as did Chris while I took on the role of photographer! Even Lewis wanted to climb some. We found a dinosaur - a Hadrosaurus. It has been partially excavated but then left in situ for visitors to see. There was also a replica of a portion of the river beds where lots of bones had been found. The park has more bones per metre than anywhere else. It is thought that a flood killed lots of them and subsequent heavy rainfall scattered the bones around the area.
