Calgary to San Francisco
An email at 6.30 this morning informed me that the train I was supposed to be catching this afternoon to San Francisco had been cancelled. Raging fires in Redding, California meant the line was closed. There was no alternative to offer so I spent the morning finding a way to get there. In the end I booked an afternoon flight and an airport hotel for when I landed. So here I am in San Francisco a day early not having experienced the Coast Starlight train that would have been a beautiful journey. At least I have a bed for the night and have just been to the laundry to do some washing! I have no photos of today apart from the flowers outside my room so have included some more of the rose gardens.

A change of plan
