Calgary to San Francisco
We started the day by watching the England v Sweden match on the tv. There were big cheers from our apartment when England won. After lunch we went to the Olympic Park. The Winter Olympics were held here in 1988 and were the first to be held over a whole two week period. The games are remembered for the heroic failures of Eddie the Eagle and the Jamaican bobsled team which inspired the film Cool Runnings, a favourite in our house at the time. The park is now used in the summer for leisure with mountain bike trails, a zip line from the ski jump, a luge run and the bobsled run. We went on the luge run 3 times which was good fun and we got faster each time. We walked round the outside of the park and found the Jamaican bobsled which was used in the film, the Olympic flame and flags of the nations who attended.
