Calgary to San Francisco

We had intended getting up early today to go paddle boarding but Evie didn’t feel well so we decided not to bother. Richard was up early as he had been to watch the sunrise at Emerald Bay but went back to bed. When everyone finally surfaced we ordered pancakes from IHOP’s while we debated what to do. In the end we decided to go river rafting on the Truckee River. We drove along the lake again to get to Tahoe City where the rafting company was situated. We boarded our raft and set off to float 5 miles down the river. The water was quite shallow in places so you could get out of the boat and paddle or swim which the girls did. Scott also went in the water as did Richard and guided us along. Lola was fantastic at paddling but a few times we spun round and ended up going backwards. It was really good fun and we had lots of laughs. At the end of the journey are a few gentle rapids which Scott and I tried to video on phones from the back of the raft. Richard fell off the front at one point but soon got back on. The next minute Scott and I were both in the water as we hit rocks. The current was quite strong and we bounced down the river for a way before Rachel and Richard managed to stop the raft and rescue us. It was so funny and we couldn’t stop laughing. Neither of us was hurt apart from a few scrapes and bruises and being thoroughly soaked. Luckily both phones survived the tumble and Richard managed to take an unflattering picture as I was hauled back into the boat. We ended the day with a BBQ sitting round one of the fire pits.
