Today we all slept in a little seeing as it was a late-ish night last night.
Once up, we wandered just down the strip to head for Circus Circus.
I wasn't entirely sure what to expect but the boys were excited to head in.
On our way to find the AdventureDome we came across an Old Time photo store. We've been meaning to get some done for ages so booked ourselves in.
In the short period of time it took me to find restrooms and come back, Craig had sat down to get a temporary tattoo on his forearm. It was a henna style tattoo that meant you had to let it dry for at least half an hour. Great plan, except that our photos were meant to be happening in about 20 minutes. Quick trip back to the photo place to change our time and then into the AdventureDome to check out the rides.
Kaine was just a little bit excited. There were two roller coasters in there and he was big enough to go on both of them. By the end of the day he had taken 7 roller coaster rides and gone on the Giant Drop 3 times (in a row - by himself). Blake spent a bit of time on the bumper cars (he LOVES them). Craig and I took it in turns to go on the roller coasters with Kaine because Blake just flat out refused to get on them.
Ended up spending the whole day at Circus Circus. In between rides we got our photos done (Old West and then decided to get Gangster style ones done as well). We also got profile caricatures of the boys and a coloured couple caricature of Craig and I. I really love the picture of the two of us. Great memento of our time in Vegas, that's for sure. Oh, and we all ended up with tattoos too.
After dinner (at Maccas - we were going to try the Steakhouse restaurant in Circus Circus but when steak prices started at $58 we decided that was a little much) we decided we'd make our way down to check out the lights on Fremont Street.
Wow. Crazy place. Definitely not somewhere for kids, though ours were not the only ones there and were certainly not the youngest there either. As soon as we got out of the taxi Craig spotted the zipline that runs the length of Fremont Street and decided he had to go on it. Kaine wanted to as well but there was no way Blake was going on it and as much as I would liked to have gone on it my four roller coaster rides had caught up with me and I was feeling a little worse for wear. Craig and Kaine took off down the street and it was about 2 minutes after that, when we couldn't see them anymore, that I realised I had no way of contacting Craig and that Fremont Street was really not the place to be standing around with a 9 year old.
Sights for the night - man being arrested; man in a mankini; man in a jockstrap; man in a bikini; chip'ndales; lady dressed as a nun with boobs out (to clarify, older, bigger lady - I'm not really one to judge but some things I'd just rather not see) annndddddd lots of 'showgirls' wearing, well, not much at all.
45 minutes later (by which time I was very, um let's say aggravated thanks to not knowing IF Craig and Kaine were able to get on the zipline or whether they'd already ridden it and we'd missed them or whether they'd walked past us in the crowd and I didn't see them etc) Blake and I manage to realise that it's them coming down towards us and snap a few quick photos. (I was not sharing Craig's excitement or enthusiasm when they got off.)
After that a very short wander up the other end of the street to get some photos and then back to the hotel for a really late night.
