The Smith's USA Trip

Today is Memorial Day here in America. We left Santa Fe fairly early and headed down towards Albuquerque but took a bit of a detour along the way.
Took the boys to the Wildlife West Nature Park and Zoo. Interestingly the place was entirely built by youth and is now run completely by volunteers. A range of different animals, some who were rescued wildlife. Bob cats, wolves, coyote, an eagle, a bear, elk and plenty of other things too. It was a good stroll for the morning and got the kids out of the car for a bit.
From there it was a reasonably short drive on into Albuquerque where we came across Old Town. Checked in at our hotel and then headed back to Old Town for a wander. Interesting place that is banking purely on tourism, based around "traditional" Indian and Mexican souvenirs. Went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch and somehow they 'forgot' our order. Bonus for us was they comped our entire lunch. Good food for free, not going to complain!
There was a lot of really gorgeous turquoise jewellery here, but the majority was out of my price range unfortunately.

so we went to check it out. Boys were super excited about being able to drive go karts but it turned out they were the slowest karts they've ever been on. Before they could have another turn the weather changed again and it absolutely bucketed down, hail and all! We made a dash to the other part of the centre for the boys to have a go at laser tag. (I drove the car across - first time driving on the left hand side of the car, may have misjudged one curb. Oops.)
Laser tag line was ridiculous and then we discovered they had bumper cars on the lower level. Boys had a ball on them as even Kaine could drive his own. Still raining when we left so headed back to the hotel, stopping for an early tea on the way and then spent some time in the pool before bed.
