The Smith's USA Trip

Day 2 of our stay in San Antonio and we're all wishing we had longer here. The city around the river walk is just absolutely beautiful.
We wandered down this morning from our hotel and took a Riverwalk boat ride that took you along two and a half mile of the San Antonio River. Mostly a natural water course with only a small man made section, it runs through the Centre of the city with shops and restaurants along its edge. The Captain of our boat was really funny and, though it is his job, he had an amazing amount of knowledge about the city.
From the boat ride we strolled up the main road back towards the Alamo and spent the rest of our morning exploring Louis Toussaud's Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe it or not. The boys had a ball though Blake was not impressed at all with the horror section of the wax museum.
A relaxing late lunch on the riverwalk at the Original Mexican restaurant where it was way too easy to sit back and enjoy a drink with our food.
We decided to walk up a few blocks to go to the Market Square but when we got there we realised it probably wasn't the greatest idea. Normally it would be a great place to shop for souvenirs but today it was insane. All set up for Fiesta there were food vendors, alcohol, stages with live music - but it was absolutely packed, hard even to just walk through so we gave up and headed back to the hotel for the boys to have a swim.
About to head back down to the riverwalk for dinner and a relaxing night.

Dinner was at the Lonestar Steakhouse. Pretty good.
We decided to wander from there down the Riverwalk towards the San Fernando Cathedral as when we were on the boat ride, the guide mentioned that they do a laser show on the Cathedral at night, starting at 9pm.
Glad we went down. It was really well done and beautiful to see the Cathedral lit up, telling the story of the development of San Antonio. Nice quiet wander back along the river to our hotel.
