Yamas!

We woke up this morning back in Dubrovnik! We had to be out of our rooms by 8:00 am this morning, but are allowed to stay on the ship until 1:00 pm. This is perfect for us, as our flight back to Athens is a 4:30 this afternoon. We have one night in Athens, and then tomorrow we’ll board the ferry for Mykonos. We’re so excited!

We thought we would take some time to reflect on our past week of cruising…
Pete says, “Even though this is an older ship and will be
decommissioned after this season, I found the ship really lovely.
It has an old elegant charm which I really enjoyed. The staff and
crew were brilliant!”
Jim says, “This cruise has been wonderful; all aspects were great
and I could really get used to this! The only exception was the
sleeping – the beds were small and the rumbling of engines all
night made it difficult to sleep. I also realized that Ouzo on ice is
just like gripe water for adults and therefore, I consumed copious
amounts to soothe my tummy all week!”
Kelley says, “I find it interesting that you go on vacation to relax,
but need to go home to rest! It’s 10:00 am here, and I still have
one more drink to try from the menu…Tequila Bum Bum. So
much for our detox day!”
Karen says, “I enjoyed all the ports we visited. The beauty and
history in this part of the world is something I have never
experienced before! I also enjoyed being on the ship with all the
British passengers; they are a lovely bunch of people!”

Things we learned from being around the Brits:
• They say “Brilliant” a lot. They like our word “Awesome”, but it’s not a word they would normally use.
• They eat a lot of pudding…therefore, we tried a lot of different puddings this week (except “black pudding”, which looked like black runny mud.)
• They were amused by the word “wiener”. They call wieners, sausages or hot dogs, and laughed like crazy whenever we said wiener!
• One of the vegetables served was “mushy peas”. Kelley tried a bite, as Helen told her to get over her dislike of mushy peas. It did not go well.
• Everyone is called “Dave” (but be sure to say it with a British accent)...except if your name is really Dave, then you are called Roland (this is according to Dave, who's real name was actually Wayne!)
• We were not confused for Americans, thank God. Our friend Dave said he knew right away because we were friendly and were not “stodgy” (There is a general dislike for Americans)
• We liked Michelle's saying "Blimey O'Reilly"
• Our suitcases had to be left in the hallway the night before we disembarked. We had discussed our concerns about our bags meeting the strict 50 pound weight limit set by Croatian Airlines. Dave and Michelle were so interested in the outcome, they came to the Quay (they pronounced it as "Key") to watch us re-distribute our luggage while Pete and Jim weighed the suitcases (over and over again!) They seemed to enjoy this almost more than the cruise!

We hope you enjoy the photo of us having the famous Tequila Bum Bum, served by our favorite waitress, Oana from Romania!
