Yamas!

Today, we started the day by making the executive decision to pay $12 a load (Canadian) to have our laundry done. It hurt (terribly), but it gave us great pleasure not to fight with any washers or dryers today! (photo #1 - the angels at the"Snow White Laundry" who helped us out!)

Once we rid ourselves of our dirty secrets...I mean laundry, we headed to the beach. We heard from the locals that Naxos is experiencing record high temperatures this week! Yeah...except that today we had to rent 4 lawn chairs and 2 umbrellas in order to get a wee bit of shade! (photo #2, Jim and Kelley enjoying the beach!)

Even though it was a relaxing day, it was emotional day too...

Kelley finished reading the book her sister Laurel lent her, "The Book Thief" and cried on the beach. The story was set in WW II, from the perspective of a young German girl. We've heard so much about the effects of the war on Greece, that it made the experience so real for Kelley. Once she read the last page, she threw the book down with emotion. While Kelley and I discussed the story, Pete grabbed the book as he was just dying to read it! We hope he cries when he reads it too! (but it's doubtful!)

Pete was filled with emotion the last few days too, as he felt the presence of his Mom...oddly enough, while on the nude beach. He felt her encouragement, and part of her enjoying Naxos with us. He couldn't resist one more dip in the raw! (Photo 3, "Full Moon rising"). Karen attempted to loosen up in honor of Mom W on the nude beach...but didn't really! Sorry Mom W! (Photo #4)

I had sad news today too, when I learned in an e-mail, that a dear friend of my parents and a fellow PEO Sister, Pat Perchal, passed away. Rest in Peace dear Pat, knowing that I will do my best to promote, love and cherish our beloved PEO virtues.

After a lovely day on the beach, we set off to enjoy a beautiful sunset dinner. Karen insisted we feed our left overs to the cats milling about at the town's garbage cans first! (photo #5)

We made fun of Jim's funny photo of the sunset, but thoroughly enjoyed a lovely Greek dinner along with a spectacular sunset. (photos #6 and 7)

Thoughts of the day...
Pete says, "Naxos may be the most beautiful place in the world!"
Jim says, "Naxos is my favorite place so far!"
Kelley says, "I'm only going to read happy books from now on! (curse you Laurel!!)"
Karen says, "I love feeding the kitty cats, but as you can tell from the photo, I'm also scared of them!"
