Yamas!

After a good nights sleep, we were up and at 'em nice and early. We used the good old fashioned method of reading a map to find our way to our "Hop on, Hop off" bus tour.
Part of this tour included a guided tour of the grounds of the Acropolis. Our guide Dimitri, an Archaeologist by profession, gave us a great tour, with many insights into archaeology, philosophy, politics and religion. It was an absolute highlight of our day! (picture of him posted below).
Following an amazing Greek salad and Gyros lunch, our afternoon plans were derailed when the city came to a gridlock due to a former Greek Prime Minister's funeral procession. Our best choice was to set out on foot and make our way to the Acropolis Museum. We enjoyed seeing all artifacts and statues uncovered on the grounds and surrounding slopes. Tomorrow, we plan to go back for an early morning trek to the top of the Acropolis.
Our next stop was at the Parliament building to see the Changing of the Guard. The pomp and ceremony was certainly something to witness! Following a walk through the National Gardens, we decided to call it a day and head back to our condo with pizza and wine in hand! Our final photos of the day are as follows:
- the 4 of us soaking our hot and tired feet in a cold water bath in our Jacuzzi bathtub with a gin and tonic in hand! A tiring, but wonderful day!
- a view of the Acropolis from our balcony!
- the night time view of the Acropolis from our balcony!

Pete says, "Athens was better than I thought!"
Jim says, "It's so much more than a dirty city!"
Kelley says, "You just don't soak your feet with anyone!"
Karen says, "I ate 1.5 olives and didn't die!"
