Yamas!

We couldn't wait to see our first Greek Island, and the quaint little island of Aegina fit the bill! Aegina is only 45 km from the port in Athens, and is a popular weekend destination for Athenians who want to escape the big city's hustle and bustle. We took the metro (train) to the port, then found our way to the ferry for the lovely 1 hour boat ride, complete with seagulls following us the whole way there! (photo #1)

As soon as the ferry docks in Aegina Town, you know you've entered the pistachio capital of the world! You can buy pistachios fresh, roasted, sun dried, jellied, candied or just about any other way you can imagine! We bought Pistachio Baklava for tonight's dessert and it was just amazing! (pistachios in the shops, photo #2)

We had a wonderful seaside lunch, even though it turned out to be a little more expensive than we expected...we forgot to ask how much the special was before enthusiastically ordering fresh Sea Bass and Dorado. It was so good though!! (Photo #3). We started with a delicious Greek salad, which we have come to expect at least twice a day! (photo #4). We then strolled the beach and shops and stopped for an hour of beach time on the Aegean Sea shore! (Photos#5 & 6)

We enjoyed our late afternoon ferry ride back to Athens, complete with a glass of wine for the ladies, and a cold beer for the men! (Photo #7). Jim made us a wonderful supper of our last few days of left overs...complete with another Greek Salad! Wine and a beautiful Sunset on our balcony after another great day in Greece....priceless!

Tomorrow...we're off to Dubrovnik for more adventures!
