Yamas!

Following a lovely morning coffee and breakfast on our balcony, we decided that today was a perfect day to spend at the beach! We studied our maps, googled the best beaches in Mykonos and picked the beach called "Platis Gialos", which is on the south side of the island.

Greece on a budget means we packed our own jug of gin and tonic and stopped along the 30 minute hike to the bus stop for smoked ham, fresh cheese, grapes and crackers...OK, we'll admit to buying a few litres of wine too! (yesterday's vintage, to be exact, on the insistence of the butcher!) (photo #1, K & P enjoying the famous Mykonos Windmills)

We hopped on the bus and within a few minutes, we met a group from Oregon who immediately recognized that we spoke English and asked us to help them find the beach! Of course we helped them find the stop to get off, even though we weren't really sure where we were going either! (photo #2)

What a glorious day we spent! The water was clear and refreshing ...but we'd like to know who put so much salt in the water?? (photo #3 enjoying the beach!) We felt certain that a celebrity such as Jennifer Aniston or John Stamos owned the yachts in the background of our photos, yet they did not invite us on board! What the heck! (photo #4)

We met a lovely Greek family, who's ancestors owned the beach we were at, yet they preferred to sit in the "poor folks" area (where we sat on our own beach blankets instead of the expensive loungers). Photo #5 is Kelley charming this Greek family!

Pete wanted a photo of his WCB Christmas bonus, hence photo #6 of him and Jim with the fabulous cooler bag! Once we made it back to Mykonos Town, we had a lovely seaside dinner before heading back to our balcony for our sunset beverages and Aegina Pistachios! Yum! Photo #7
