Yamas!

Wow...the day has come to start the journey back to reality! Our bellies are bloated, our livers shot, our money almost spent...and one of our wine glasses is being held together by 2 band-aids and some tape! (photo #1)

We really enjoyed last night's dinner at Zisis's restaurant. The food was a traditional Cretan menu and was not only delicious but also very inexpensive. (Photos #2 and 3). At the end of the meal they served us a plate of watermelon and another type of melon (that looked like honey dew but tasted like canteloupe) and Cretan Raki (tastes like nail polish remover!). We asked our cute little waitress what the name of the second melon was...and she answered
"M E L O N"...very slowly! We all had a good laugh (once she'd left, of course!)

It was a lovely evening as the temperature had finally cooled off. It was only 28 degrees last night, and we found it so cool - almost sweater weather!! As we made our walk home, we came across a no parking sign that we couldn't resist capturing a photo of....a "no donkey" parking sign! A perfect way to end off our last evening in Crete with a great laugh! (Photo#4)

This morning, we enjoyed breakfast by the sea, and took a few photos of the lovely seaside by our hotel. (Photos 5, 6, and 7)

After a relaxing afternoon by the pool (Photo 8), we're packed and ready for our pick up at 7:00pm to board the overnight ferry to Athens- our flight is tomorrow at 1:00 pm! We're all hoping to catch a little shut eye on the ferry tonight, but we'll see how comfortable we'll be! I hope to post some photos of our overnight experience when we get to the Athens airport tomorrow.

For now....farewell to Crete! It's been amazing! Canada...here we come!
