The weather was as cold and dreary as predicted, but we headed out to visit the Boston Public Library. As with other libraries we have visited, it is a beautiful old building with amazing mosaics and murals on the walls and ceilings. There was an exhibit in the map room showing the planning of parks and in Boston. It also included a couple of more recent examples of how a carpark and a freeway were re-built underground with parkland replacing them at street level.

We left the library and took the train to the other side of the city to do a little shopping, including the purchase of a second umberalla!
The weather soon got the better of us so we headed back to the hotel in the afternoon to warm up and rest. We then headed to a really nice Thai restaurant for dinner. We found out too late that the meals were enormous! It's always a bit of a risk here - you never know if a meal is going to be somewhat reasonable sized or super-sized! We did what we could but left a lot of yummy Thai food behind.
