US Trip 2018

We got up early this morning for the long drive back into the US. We said goodbye to Niagara Falls and crossed the border very quickly and with no dramas.

Our route through the northern part of New York state and into Vermont took us over 8 hours in total and Google Maps (which Nadia's dad will be pleased to know Damien has started calling Giuseppina) took us almost entirely on smaller roads. We drove past some beautiful farmland, forested areas, and through some very small and pretty towns.

Damien saw a sign for a water fall in a small town along the way so of coarse we had to stop for a quick look. It was very pretty, but we're concerned that all future water falls are going to look pretty shabby after the past couple of days.

We arrived at our hotel not far from Montpellier, the capital of Vermont, after 5pm. We had a bit of a rest before heading into town for dinner at a Thai restaurant. Town is a very apt word for Montpellier. It's really small and incredibly cute, with a little river running through it and houses that back right on to the water. It's hard to believe that this is a state capital. We are both very much looking forward to exploring this and surrounding towns tomorrow.
