We are looking after the kids today and tomorrow while Mary and Adrian are at work. Luckily for us (and them) the kids are largely able to take care of themselves!

After a quiet morning, we took them into Santa Monica to have lunch and see a movie. We saw The Incredibles 2, which was really fun. The kids said they enjoyed it, but Nadia seemed to enjoy it just as much if not more!

After the movie we came home for a snack and a rest. Mary and Adrian arrived home from work and the 2 of us went out for dinner. Damien was keen to try some BBQ Tri Tip that is popular in California. We found a place not far from Mary's called The Holy Cow. We ordered a few things and they were all delicious. Damien will definitely be seeking out Tri Tip to smoke when we get home.

We then drove into Santa Monica to find somewhere to have a couple of drinks. The first couple of places we tried were more loud and crowded than we were hoping for. We eventually found the Onyx Bar, which is located at the rooftop of the Shangri La hotel. The rooftop gave us a beautiful uninterrupted view of the beach and the pier. After admiring the view, we found a seat inside and had a couple of drinks to round off a really fun evening.
