US Trip 2018

Before leaving Memphis this morning we took a drive through the historical Elmwood Cemetary. The map took us to view the sites of military, public service and musical personalities.

We then drove the 3 hours to Nashville. We got there before 2pm and settled into our room. Our hotel is very close to downtown, meaning that we can leave the car and walk to most of the sites. We headed out to visit the Coutry Music Hall of Fame and Museum. We don't really know much about this genre of music but it was interesting to read about the history of city and its links to music. Some of the exhibits were really interesting too, especially some of the amazng custome built guitars. Nadia took photos of exhibits related to Taylor Swift to show Miranda when we see her! Damien also took photos of the Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit 2.

After that we crossed the road to visit the Johnny Cash Museum. Yes there's a whole museum related to Johnny Cash. It was really interesting to learn about his life and career and see footage, pieces of furnature and other artefacts from his life.

Across the road from the museum was the Goo Goo factory. Goo Goo is a chocolate cluster with nuts, marshmallows and caramel. Kind of like rocky road but delicious! So we bought a box and headed back to the hotel.

We had dinner at a really nice restaurant in a part of town not far from our hotel called The Gulch. It has heaps of restaurants and shops. There was a country singer performing that night who was really good and had a quiet, laid back vibe. We had a delicious meal and drinks, and made our way back to the hotel for the night.
