US Trip 2018

We woke this morning to overcast skies and a little drizzling rain. The forecast for today was for afternoon storms. We got up and had showers in our tiny bathroom then had breakfast of some of the leftover food that we had not managed to finish during our week in Portland.

The information that we were provided with by the owner of our tiny house included tips on some good hikes to do in the nearby national park. We decided to tackle the Ramona Falls hike. The hike itself was 7 miles long but was not difficult or too steep. It took us alongside and across the Sandy River and the Ramona River and gave us beautiful views of Mt Hood and the surrounding forests and mountains. The weather cleared as we made our way toward the falls and it looked like the forecast storms might not eventuate. The falls themselves were beautiful and were a worthy reward for reaching the halfway point of the hike. We stopped and had a rest and something to snack on before continuing the loop trail back to the carpark. As we got toward the end of the hike we noticed a lot more people heading in the opposite direction, so we were pleased that we had started out that little bit earlier in the day. All in all the hike took us 3 hours and was a really lovely way to spend the morning.

We headedback to the house to have lunch of more food from the week and then played a card game called Exploding Kittens which we found in one of the storage nooks in the house.

After that short rest we headed back out to find some spots to see views of Mt Hood, but by this time in the afternoon the promised weather started to close in so most of the mountain was obscured by cloud.

We went to a local bar and restaurant for tea. It was pretty crowded but we got a seat and had dinner and a few drinks. A band was setting up for later that evening but we didn't stick around to watch. We headed back to the house to watch some TV and get an early night.
