US Trip 2018

This morning we skipped the hotel breakfast had took a guided tour of the Chelsea Market. The market is located at the site of the old Nabisco factory before it was converted to a market in 1997. The site retains a lot of its industrial features and has lots of delicious carry-out and fresh foods.

The tour included tastings of 9 different foods, including a "sausage roll" from a place called the Tuck Shop, which is a food stall run by Australians who make traditional meat pies and other Australian produce. The tour also included a walk along part of the Highline, which gave us a view of some of the local city landmarks.

After the tour we returned to our hotel to have a breather after all of the food and also to start preparing for our flight to Portland tomorrow. We needed to make sure that we had room in our bags for all of our luggage given that we have done a little more shopping than we had planned to. Thankfully everything fits in our bags and we are still under our weight limit, which means that we can do more shopping over the next couple of weeks!

We then left the hotel and headed to a nearby bar to have a few drinks and dinner for our last night in New York. It's been really fun to explore different parts of the city this time around but I'm really looking forward to heading to the west coast and seeing Mary and the family tomorrow.
