I don't know why it is called a Gravel Pit- I can't see and any gravel!!! Huge area with lots of trees and plenty of nooks in which to camp.
Oh My Goodness:
Those Natives again!
Father was not impressed when he wanted to turn into a car park near the toilets at a Rest Area, only to be blocked by 'natives' in their car. Supposedly also, using the amenities! Another car and van were trying to get out of the car park to continue their journey.
Highlights:
Litchfield National Park- Florence Falls
We went via the park to look at the falls. Way in was fairly ordinary, however, the falls as to be expected were impressive, with many people climbing the 135 steps to go swimming.
Magnetic Termite Mounds:
They absolutely fascinate me. This time they were large flat plates, side on in the ground. There on a large flat open area viewing area, there were hundreds of these 'plates'- Termite mounds. Apparently these termite mounds face a north-south direction exposing the least amount of surface area to the sun and thus keeping their food cool.
