Month: Feb
Days Stayed: 4 weeks and 5 days
Weather: Hurricane weather!!!, windy and sunny

We decided to travel from Sorrento to Geelong via the boat instead of driving across Melbourne. Very civilised! Sat down and had lunch while we went across the bight.

We got to Colac and stopped with our ‘bum’ facing the lake- Fantastic idea! The next day we got the ‘winds’ and then we got the ‘hurricane’! It was non stop. The caravan next door was unattended and their whole annexe more or less ‘blew apart’! Unfortunately or perhaps, fortunately, no one was home!

The wind was very fierce, so we spent time working on making ‘flippin classroom’ lessons, swimming, practising and patchworking.

The bird life was pretty incredible as well with migration across the lake by hundreds of birds.

The sunsets here on the Lake are absolutely amazing!!!
On the way into town we noticed a small dam in a paddock on the side oof the road. At first glance it looks like the swan in the lake is happily swimming around, however, its actually a fake!

Oh my Goodness:
Indians- Josie eat your heart out!:
One fairly windy night these ‘indian maties’ came up to the fireplace next to the ‘blown apart’ caravan and decided to not only light a fire but also help themselves to some chairs and the barbeque from the ‘blown apart’ caravan! Some people!!!

Renewing My Handicap car sticker:
I went to the doc to get a renewal for my handicap pass for parking- what a nightmare!! Got the paperwork easy enough, however, you need to be a resident to get the card and it is done by ‘areas’! So we went back to the doc to ask if she would fill out the NSW paperwork and decided to head to NSW for a day trip, when we get it. The doc sent me for some physio and to the Osteopath as well.
So off I tottled to the Osteopath for my ‘free’ visit (thank you Medicare!) He rubbed my foot, told me to go to the pool and do the exercises I was already doing and I’ll have $10 per visit for that privilege! I went twice and decided my $10 could be better spent on lollies (Oh, yah Yumm-y!!!)

Highlight:
Beeac: We decided to have a look at the locally advertised tourist spot! We went on our way back from the Geelong Reformed church. The ‘jip’ took us out into the never never, driving though farms and ending at a gate (of course). The poor sheep in the field must have thought we had something from them cause there was this sudden stampede as we drove along the fence. The sheep being sheep all decided to follow, baaing at top volume!
Finally we found this ‘highlight’ and took a photo! It was supposed to be a selection of windmills that the farmers had made and erected in a park!
Oh well it was a nice drive!

Colac pools: The pool here is amazing!!! They have a lap pool, kids facilities and a warm pool as well as the usual sauna and spa. The warm pool is about the size of a kids pool (1.5-1.8 depth) with a ramp going into both the lap pool and the warm pool.

Another interesting aspect is all the pools in vic so far allow noodles and balls in the pool! Wake up NSW!!!

Lavers Hill:
It was 45 degrees!!! So we went for a drive to Lavers Hill. We stopped at the little restaurant on the hill and paid an exorbitant price for a drink and cake! On the way back we went via a different road through the mountains. Oh, Yah, Lovely!!! This brought us in the back of Colac showing just how big this city is.

Bird Sanctuary:
Took a drive there it was opposite to where we were staying on the lake. Heaps of Swans, and other native birds, with a pelican or two.

Farmer Joe:
We watched the farmer pick up his bales of hay and put them onto the semi trailer.
