The Rest area was on top of a dusty hill. You could drive down to the bottom, near the pools, however, the road was extremely rutted. We

ended up going over the bridge to the other side where there was a nicer area to camp and no red dust.

Oh My Goodness:
I went into the van to turn the gas on when I noticed that we had lost the side window in the van. Father was walking around looking for somewhere to camp. I walked up to him and said: You need to prepare yourself.
Father: What, what...
Me; You need to prepare yourself, we've lost the caravan window. You should have seen his face change to ashen white with shock. We had very strong winds on the way here and the the wind had gotten behind and blown the window off. We knew that the locks were 'dodgey' on that window, however, never expected this to happen. SO we decided to uncouple and drive back to the petrol

station 100 klms away where father was certain the window was still in place. About 45 klms from camp I 'spot-oed it'. Praise the Lord! It was in tact, without a scratch on the glass part, only a a bit of a sharp edge on the aluminium frame. When we got back we went back over the bridge where we could see a nice flat area right next to the pools to set up camp. with a screw and some rivets, new window latches ( we already had them) a bit of filing on the frame, father replaced the window. He is Soooo... clever! It could have been worse- I could have lost father!!!

Highlights:
Gyro Parachutist:
We were sitting down, minding our own business when we heard a motor. It was a 'matie' flying a gyro parachute. In the middle of nowhere!

The eagles:
They are everywhere! Father picked up a leaflet at the last garage explaining what to do when they are on the side of the road- toot- as they apparently take a long time to take off. I saw one sitting on the stump right outside our bedroom window in the morning. They mate for live and are usually flying around in pairs.

Stuart Desert Peas:
I Painted them!!! They are absolutely beautiful, in the middle of nowhere, all along the highway in patches.
