We drove into Derby. There were a lot of natives again sitting on grass areas, in front of the shops and walking around. We stopped at the Visitors Centre and Father said that the 2 men sitting under the tree there were carving. Ripped off I missed it.

Don't stay at the Rest Areas near Fitzroy Crossing- Natives!!! Someone had forgotten to give this message to them as I didn't see any. Just fellow caravaners!

Dead straight roads!
Boab Trees: We now began seeing these huge bulbous trees. Some were very, very, VERY big and others were of varying shapes.
Highlight:
Our first wild dingo, crossing the street!
The Birds:
I was typing up the diary and in front of me where these huge birds strutting around in the bush foraging for food. Australian Bustards. They look like small emus only skinnier.
The ant Hill Pinnacles:
They looked exactly like the Pinnacles except they were termite mounds. Thousands of them!
