We arrived early and got the best spot in the 'car park'!!! Uncoupled and headed into town to do some much needed shopping.
Oh My goodness:
The Tour guide at the HMAS memorial:
I think she had early onset dementia! She kept loosing her words????
Highlights:
HMAS Memorial: It was very sad to hear about the demise of this ship. The memorial was very symbolic and yet very fitting. My eyes were leaking!!!
The Museum:
We went on the tour and hear about the Batavia. The 3D movie about the salvaging of this ship was fantastic!
St Francis Xavier Cathedral:
WOW! what an amazing church. They had all these areas in the church for this and that ritual. The tour guide was very informative. She took us downstairs and the thought and creativity that had gone into making the different areas was awe inspiring. eg: When you turned the lights off downstairs the natural light from the windows behind the pillars created two beams of light, creating a cross on the floor. The nativity scene was also amazing- set in a niche, lit by natural light from small windows in the roof. Hard to describe. Inside right near the pews was a glass floor square where you could see the old and new coffin of some 'famous' priest, that had been unearthed and preserved.
The Bingro Lookout:
20 mins out of town was the Lookout where you could camp. Beautiful view!
24 Hour Self-Contained RV Rest Area:
The Car park!!! This was right on the Marina near the big tankers. The Train is the alarm clock- 6am.
The horses:
They were on the hill at the lookout- munching on the grass. I could hear them 'smucking'!!!
